To us, you're a number. One.

As a Catholic, Marianist institution, our educational philosophy addresses the needs of the whole person: mind, body and spirit. And the division of Student Development is here to ensure that you have opportunities and support to thrive in each of these areas.

Campus life offers a multitude of experiences that can enhance and enrich your academic studies and your life. Living in community, joining a campus organization or taking steps to ensure your health and well-being are just some of the ways that you can shape your undergraduate journey to reflect your needs and aspirations.

With services like health care, career and personal counseling, wellness opportunities, housing and residence life, leadership programs and student life we take care of the details so that you can explore the world around you with confidence — and achieve your intellectual, personal and professional goals.

Chris Schramm

Dean of Students Office

The Dean of Students office is the primary advocate for students at the University.  We are committed to provide programs and services that support you in achieving academic and personal success.  Through our Marianist approach to a holistic education that addresses your physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual needs and capacities, we help you become your best self in the service of others.

Scholars have noted that success in college is closely related to your ability to identify leadership and involvement experiences that allow you to connect with and contribute to your learning community.  We strive to offer meaningful opportunities to learn, lead, and serve as you develop into citizens prepared to make a difference locally and globally.  Residential life, student organizations, and intramurals are just a few of the ways you can become actively engaged in campus life.  Please visit our web pages to learn more about these opportunities and to discover how UD students can get involved.

We measure our success by yours.  Call, email or stop by our office.  We are eager to partner with you to ensure the best college experience possible.

New Caldwell housing

Wi-Fi, cable and intelligent, stimulating conversations. Standard with every room.

If there's one word to describe life at the University of Dayton, it's community. Since 1850, our Marianist beliefs have promoted this atmosphere of helping each other, challenging one another, having fun together and working from the common good.

Walking through campus, you're not the only one who feels right at home: approximately 90 percent of our undergrads live on campus or in the student neighborhood. And whether you want to stay in your residence hall, on campus or in town, there's never a shortage of things to do.

With a variety of housing opportunities for undergraduate, graduate and law students, we make residential living a vibrant environment you'll relish for years to come.
